2016_04_13 - Day 36 Paihia to Dargaville
Leaving Paihia we visted Wairere Boulders Nature Park - Granite boulders in a creek with unusal 'fluteing'. Located on a private property, this was quite a unique experience. I'm sure I'd still be talking to the lonley old woman who greeted me in the hut on arrival if I'd not just walked away! We skirted down the western coast and dropped in to see some of the largest modern Kauri trees in existence - huge girth if not height. We visted Nelson's Kaihu Kauri and were finally enticed to purchase some of this beautiful wood at great expense. We ended the day at our last country accomodation - Kauri Coast Top 10 Holiday Park near Dargaville, a very pretty and pleasant location.
