Worth 1000 - 30 Day Sept '14
Take a photo a day for all of September 2014 for Worth 1000 30-Day Challenge .
My theme is related to Bridges that I traverse in my daily commute. As the month rolls on I'll have to move into aspects of each I choose ... but we'll see how it pans out. I have to deal with approx 10 days travelling toward the end of the month that will make sticking to a pattern difficult.
This is my first challenge outside my Astrophotography hobby, so I expect robust constructive feedback will be required.
Good luck to all giving this a go!

on September 14, 2014Curvature from distortion is an easy fix. In PS, just go to Filters and you can do it either by choosing Lens Correction or, if you have Photoshop CC, you can go into the Camera Raw filter and find the distortion slider there, too. I do it in Camera Raw when I open my pictures. I don't use Lightroom, but I understand the sliders are similar to Camera Raw, so I'm sure you can fix it there manually, too, if the Lens Correction filter doesn't automatically recognize your lens. Either way, it's a very quick tweak.. :)

on September 12, 2014Yes, it was a bit of a surprise. I have high hopes with Canning bridge in a couple of days if the light is right also.

on September 12, 2014Thanks for the comments... and I do like it the colours and the smoothed water from the the 1-sec exposure (was flowing right to left with the outgoing tide).

on September 12, 2014I know there are some blown out areas, but I don't care. I still love this. It's such a wonderful surprise and incredibly beautiful. I would even venture to say I might even like it without the stop, just keeping a band of black above those posts. Whatever you choose to do, I would love to see more of this type as it was totally unexpected and a joy to see. Well done!

on September 12, 2014Love this one! I think this one would be worthwhile dusting off your photoshop skills and playing around with it. If not, I would probably crop at the top near where it goes dark, so the focus is entirely on those wonderful colours, textures and reflections of those poles. Nice find!

on September 11, 2014Carol, thanks for the comments ... that I have approvals set on for, so was why you couldn't see your first one.
I have long put on hold Photoshop skills that relate to layer processing, so perhaps you positive comments will spur me on. They have value in my normal Astrophotography processing also, as does HDR. Thanks for the suggestions.

on September 11, 2014I made a comment earlier, but it's not showing up, so I will try again. I really like this shot. As an abstract I like the bottom separated from the top by the crosspiece on the bridge. As for realism, I love the smooth water contrasted against the long lines of the bridge pilings. This is a great subject for exposure bracketing for HDR compilation, since the area to the sides outside of the bridge is fairly blown out. You can retrieve some detail from those areas by using blending modes and Shadow/Highlight adjustment. Also, because of the view straight down the belly of the bridge, I'd probably crop off some on the right to make it a bit more symmetrical to the left. Criticisms yes, but bottom line is I really like the image.
