I tried positive (eyepiece) projection to get a longer focal length (F=4000mm, f=50) than Powermate 4X (F=1920mm, f=24) achieves. The slower f ratio and atmospheric dance of the target seemed to defeat the aim compared to my better outcome 3/5/2013 with 4X Powermate. Captured with BackyardEOS 5X Planetary mode - 500 frames @ ISO1250 at 1/4 sec, processed with Registax 6 with best 20% stacked, no wavelet processing. Post processed with Adobe Photoshop CS5 Telescope - Apogee OrthoStar LOMO 80/480 with 7mm Research Grade Meade Orthoscopic eyepiece projection F~4000mm f/~50, no filters, Canon 40D DSLR, Ambient 11C. EQMOD EQASCOM with Ascom 6 for mount control. Backyard EOS 2.09 in 5X planetary mode for Image acquisition. Mount - Skywatcher NEQ6 Pro. No guideing.
