Imaged at Kokerbin Rock, Kwolyin (between Quairading and Bruce Rock) I re-processed this after feedback from Jean-Marie Locci that I'd not got as much out of the midrange as might be possible ... and he was correct. Imaged at Kokerbin Rock, Kwolyin (between Quairading and Bruce Rock) The North America Nebula is large star formation nebula ~1600 Light Years away in the constellation Cygnus. It covers an area four times the width of the full moon and does not quite fit this frame. This object only gets about 15 degrees above the northern horizon at meridian crossing, so is quite difficult to image from my Southern location. The basic shape and some contrast detail has emerged from this dark sky location, so I'm quite pleased with this. Imaged at Kokerbin Rock, Kwolyin (between Quairading and Bruce Rock) The Veil Nebula, of which this is the western part, is the now faint ionized remnant of a supernova event in the constellation Cygnus between 5000 and 8000 years ago.
