Comparison of 400D, 40D and AP modified 70D noise - Messier M42 - NGC1976 - Orion Nebula - 31/12/2013
A comparison of 3 images at consistent ISO 800 level and similar temperature to compare noise levels of unmodified Canon 400D and 40D DSLRs with Baader BCF modified Canon 70D. 400D image from 3/1/2011 40D image frrom 2/12/2012 700D image from 31/12/2013 Post processing to mosaic in Adobe Photoshop CS5 For best comparison, look at in 'Original' size. The 400D noise is quite noticeably high but the 70D is still easily better than the 40D. Also see a comparison of various ISO levels for the 70D this same date. Telescope - Apogee OrthoStar LOMO 80/480 with Hotech SCA Field Flattener, Hutech IDAS LPS-P2 filter (except 400D), Canon 400D unmodified, 40D unmodified and 70D Baaded BCF modified DSLR field 106' x 159' , Ambient ??C, 16C &17C respectivley.
