Caldwell 100 - IC2944 - Running Chicken or Lamda Centauri Nebula - 18/05/2012 (Processed and cropped stack)

Taken at a dark sky site near Wagin, Western Australia.

This is an open cluster and emission nebula ~6500 LY away and located in Centaurus. Within it are dark blobs known as 'Bok globules' which are frequently a site of star formation.

The dark skies and longer duration images brings depth to the nebulosity. Compare to attempt at Perth Observatory (9/4/11) and at home in the suburbs (2/2/11 and 2/4/11).
