2022 Remote Control
2021 Experimentation lead me to a direction of city living and remotely hosting my telescope. I persued greater automation and remote control that with a little more work should prove operable to get started.
Unless stated otherwise, images are from my home location in Leeming, 15 Km south of the centre of Perth, Western Australia. Leeming has SQM 19.00 Bortle 6 skies.
My favourite shots can also be found on AstroBin http://www.astrobin.com/users/scottastrophe
NGC3576 Nebula and NGC3603 Open Cluster in Carinae - 6/3/22 (Processed cropped stack)
Imaged at Perth Observatory, semi-dark sky site, using 'Nebula Booster' filter. Not quite focused, and slight collimation error (double spikes) and some occasional wind gusts made the stars less sharp than ideal.
Telescope - PowerNewt 200mm f/4 with ASA Reducer/Coma Corrector (at 65.1mm backfocus) for F=568mm f/2.84, Rigid collar with no extension tube, IDAS NB1 filter, QHY 268C CMOS camera field 90' x 134', Ambient ~20C, Camera 0C.
StellarMate on RP-4B with Kstars/Ekos for EQMOD mount control, auto-focusing, plate solving and image acquisition. Mount - Skywatcher NEQ6 Pro. Guidescope - Orion ShortTube 80 with Starlight Xpress SuperStar (Mono) CCD Auto Guider and Ekos auto guiding software.
