2016 - Uncertain Times
2015 was a busy year for work, Perth Observatory volunteering and travel and so was my least productive astrophotography year since I restarted in 2010. 2016 also had a fair amount of travel and its related photography burden, as well as 2 months relieving the chairperson of the Perth Observatory Volunteer group, so was a time challenge again and produced a new low in terms of astrophtography images posted.
Aims for 2016 were to use New Moon dark sky opportunities at Perth Observatory or elsewhere to try some wide-field milky way shots as well as more faint nebulous objects. I acquired a SkyWatcher Star Adventurer that has started the widefield journey
I continued to have hopes, not progressed in the last 2 years, to try some mosaics and some HDR images in order to challenge me to improve my Photoshop skills and possibly even have a look at PixInsight, that is now an an entrenched Astrophotography software toolkit item. Once again I failed to find the time to achieve this.
I continued my involvement with Perth Observatory's Volunteer Group (POVG) for Perth Observatory's public outreach programmes including coordinating the 4-person private 'star adoption' tours and becoming more involved in the Training of new volunteers with reference material and hands on training for equipment.
Unless stated otherwise, images are from my home location in Willetton, 12 Km south of the centre of Perth, Western Australia, though I used this far less now as it is unsuitable for faint objects using one-shot colour DSLR..

The Moon and Jupiter on New Year's Morning - 01/01/2016 (Processed single image)
The Moon and Jupiter rose together just before the New year about 1 Moon diameter apart. By 3:30AM they were 3 Moon diameters apart as shown here. See also cropped version.
A quick snap after returning from New year's Eve party.
