2015 Started with a Comet
2014 ended with Comet Lovejoy C/2014 Q2 due to reach its peak brightness of 4th Magnitude in January 2015.
Aims for this year were similar to 2014 and to use New Moon dark sky opportunities to get some better Gum catalogue images and wide field milky way shots. An unplanned 32 day trip to France, Germany and Morocco during September, along with general work busy-ness, general photography expansion on Worth 1000 and Perth Observatory volunteer group involvement curtailed some of my goals.
An area that also continues to intrigue me is to try some mosaics and some HDR images in order to challenge me to improve my Photoshop skills and possibly even have a look at PixInsight, that is gaining more traction for the common Astrophotography software kit bag. I failed to achieve this for a second year however :(
My continued involvement with Perth Observatory's Volunteer Group (POVG) was dominated by assisting to ensure Perth Observatory's public outreach continues, though others did much more, now with POVG running the facility and I deciding to take on 4-person private 'star adoption' tours. A POVG newsletter article provides more information on my astronomy interest and can be found in the POVG Winter 2015 newsletter here http://us6.campaign-archive1.com/?u=48ce386506fcce29cc481b04b&id=3a6f6e446b#astro
Unless stated otherwise, images are from my home location in Willetton, 12 Km south of the centre of Perth, Western Australia, though I used this far less now as it is unsuitable for faint objects.
My favourite shots can also be found on AstroBin http://www.astrobin.com/users/scottastrophe

Stephen Boyd's BT200 headed home - 3/1/2015
I borrowed Stephen Boyd's dormant Bintel (GSO) BT200 8" f/4 Newtonian in April 2012 whilst I decided what my second telescope choice would be after starting with an 80mm APO.
I finally decided this in February 2014, when the opportunity to trade the 80mm APO back to Jean-Mare Locci for an 8" 4/2.84 PowerNewt.
Return of Stephen's scope was much delayed and was finally returned January 2015. Many thanks to Stephen.
